OZZY OSBOURNE Says He Wants To Record New Studio Album Next Year
December 9, 2005This Is London recently conducted an interview with Ozzy Osbourne. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
On singing before the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance, alongside Sir Cliff Richard, Charlotte Church and Shirley Bassey:
"She [the Queen] looked at me and she goes, [puts on a high, posh voice] 'Oh, so this is what they call variety now, is it?' One thing about her, she's got great skin on her face. She's still a very good-looking woman, I think."
On what he said to the Queen:
"You know what, I've met her twice now, and each time I don't know what I've said to her. I can remember my first wife's mother's telephone number, but I can't remember what I said to you 10 minutes ago."
On his wife/manager Sharon:
"She'd stop to sign autographs for a f***ing dead body in the road because it's all new to her. . . She has her own life and her own career. After she's gone through chemotherapy for seven months and kissed death on the lips a few f***ing times, I'm just so happy for her that she's having fun. It said in one of the papers, 'Ozzy's extremely jealous of his wife's success'. How much more success can I have? I'm really grateful and happy that she didn't die."
On Sharon's recent autobiography, "Extreme":
"I won't read it. It just f***s me up. I've done some pretty bad things and I've done some pretty good things, but I haven't done it all at the same time. If you just read the extracts they put in the paper, you'd think I was Charles Manson."
On throwing himself into music once more since "The Osbournes" finished:
"When I have a great idea for a song, it gives me a feeling that nothing else will give me — drugs, sex, hit TV shows, nothing." He wants to record a studio album next year, and his Ozzfest tours will continue, although they may move indoors because of his hayfever. "This planet is killing me slowly. I always end up sick because of f***ing pollen."
On the musical he has cowritten with producer Mark Hudson about Rasputin:
"I do identify with him. He lived the lifestyle of a rock 'n' roller without the guitars. It's all written and there are a lot of people interested, but it's my wife's and my business manager's job to get me the best deal. We're looking for a top-class producer, not some marblehead."
On being free of drugs and booze:
"I've overdosed regularly and I'm not proud of it, but if I changed any of the amazing things and the dumb things I've done, I wouldn't be here now. When I think about it, you couldn't have written my life. It's incredible."
